Since launching Bricks on r/FortNiteBR in May, we’ve been hard at work developing additional features for Community Points. Today we’re excited to announce Points for Coins. As of today, anyone with Bricks will be able to convert their Points into r/FortNiteBR exclusive Coins. These Coins work just like any other Reddit Coins, except that they can only be used on r/FortNiteBR. Use them to award great posts and comments on r/FortNiteBR and help this community thrive.
Converting Bricks into Coins is currently available only on desktop web and will be rolling out to the Android app over the next few days. On either platform, clicking on the Coins button in the toolbar will show a new “Convert Bricks into Coins” button. Clicking this will allow you to pick how many Coins you want to convert. Once you approve the conversion and processing is complete, you’ll be given shiny new Coins you can use to award excellent content right here on r/FortNiteBR!

It takes a few minutes to convert your Bricks into Coins. You’ll know they’re ready when you see this notification on the bottom:
These Coins are exclusive to the r/FortNiteBR community, so they won’t appear in your global Reddit Coin balance. To see how many r/FortNiteBR Coins you have, click the Coins button in the toolbar and click on the “Convert Bricks into Coins” button to see a list with all of your balances:
Bricks are a unit of ownership you earn for great contributions to r/FortNiteBR and only work within the community. We’re launching the ability to exchange them for Coins so that you can now use those Points to award others in this community for their great posts and comments. We hope this cycle of Points and Coins, just within r/FortNiteBR, will help encourage even better content and collaboration over time.

EDIT: We're aware of an issue that prevents some mobile users from using their r/FortNiteBR exclusive Coins to award posts in the app. We're working on a fix now. In the meantime, you can use these Coins on web if you're affected by this bug.

I don’t think this feature is great for a few reasons.
First, it encourages people to farm karma because now you can get premium, which is something people actually want, just from farming karma for a bit.
Second, it can be easily abused. With certain awards, anyone with a friend could make the fnbr coins into coins usable anywhere. This is bad because people who don’t even like fortnite will now want to farm karma here in order to get coins.
Third, it encourages award baiting because it’s now much more likely to get awards in this subreddit because most decently active users now have tons of coins.
Fourth, the rate is INSANE. From being decently active on this sub for a few months, I could give the biggest award on reddit. That’s absolutely crazy.
Fifth, you all saw what happened earlier. The sub being flooded is never a good thing and it’s much much easier for it to happen when people notice posts with a specific phrase are getting gilded. I know it wasn’t meant to be bad before but it would be pretty easy for a decently active poster (or karma farmer) to make the subreddit nearly unusable for an hour or so just by saying “any post with a picture of a turtle gets gold.”
This is mostly just for mods and admins to see. This is my honest opinion on this feature and I think it could be decent with a lot of improvements. What do other people think about this?
